Privacy policy

Updated

This page describes what KitchenGearCalc collects and why. The short version: analytics in aggregate, an email address only if you type one into a form, and nothing else.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are followed. It sets cookies and collects a truncated IP address, device type, approximate location and the pages you view. We use it in aggregate and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, and Google's own description of how it handles this data is at policies.google.com.

We also record, as an analytics event, when an outbound product link is clicked. That event carries the link and the page it was on. It does not carry anything about you.

Email

Two forms on this site collect an email address, and only if you choose to submit one.

  • The setup list form posts to Google Forms, which stores submissions in a spreadsheet we control. We use it to send the shopping lists and occasional updates. Every message includes an unsubscribe option and we do not sell or share the list.
  • The contact and partner forms post to FormSubmit, which forwards each submission to us as an individual email. It does not build a list.

Amazon affiliate links

Product links carry an affiliate tag so the retailer can attribute a purchase to this site. Following one takes you to Amazon, which sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We receive aggregate reporting about clicks and orders. We do not receive your name, your address or your payment details, and we could not obtain them if we wanted to. Full detail is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Fonts

Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. That request includes your IP address. There is no way to load a webfont from a third party without this being true, and it is the only third party asset on the site.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share personal information.
  • We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
  • We do not build profiles of individual visitors.
  • We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your choices

You can block cookies in your browser and the site will work normally, apart from analytics. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it. You can ask us to delete an email address we hold by writing to us through the contact page, and we will do it without asking why.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated date at the top of this page will change with it.
