Affiliate disclosure

KitchenGearCalc participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you follow a product link from this site and buy something, we may receive a commission from the retailer.

What it costs you

Nothing. The commission is paid by the retailer out of its own margin, and the price you pay is the same whether you arrive through a link here or type the address yourself. There is no surcharge and no tracking of anything beyond the fact that a click came from this site.

What it does not change

• Which products we recommend. Every pick on this site is chosen on published specifications, owner manuals and recurring themes in verified owner reviews. Commission rates vary between categories, and we do not weight recommendations toward the ones that pay more.
• What we say about a product. Several pages recommend the cheaper option plainly, and the build guides include a section on what to skip, which is the opposite of a commission incentive. Telling somebody not to buy something is what makes the rest of the page worth reading.
• Whether a product appears at all. Products we could not verify as live listings are named in the writing without a link rather than swapped for something we could monetise. The Anova Precision Oven, Combustion thermometers and the Acaia Pearl scale are all in that position.

Where the disclosure appears

Once per page, in the footer, on every page of this site. The Associates operating agreement requires that it be visible on pages carrying affiliate links; it does not require that it be repeated four times or placed above the content you came for, and we think a site that shouts its disclosure at you in a banner has usually stopped thinking about the reader.

Prices

Every price on this site is the figure the retailer's listing carried when our catalog was last verified, and each product was confirmed live rather than copied from an older article. Prices in this category change often, sometimes weekly on the espresso machines. Treat a price here as a reference point and check the current listing before buying.

Other relationships

We do not accept payment to change a recommendation, we do not publish guest posts, and we do not exchange links. If a commercial arrangement ever affects a page, it will be labelled on that page. The partner page sets out what we will and will not do in full.
